Dredge working at mouth of ship canal.

July 24:

Dredging Continues:

Crews are working hard to finish the dredging project along Park Point. The beach rebuilding on Park Point is continuing around the clock, with workers trying to complete the job. The project has already improved one part of the beach, where erosion had taken its toll. The US Army Corps of Engineers is spending nearly $300,000 on the dredging effort. They say the dredging is beneficial for both the shipping industry and residents whose beaches have and residents whose beaches have been washed away. The dredging process has to be repeated about every four years to ensure safe navigation in the harbor.
