I grew up in Algoma, WI on the Lake Michigan shore. If you're
southbound, the highway arcs away from the lakeshore about 5 mi south
of town. Under some conditions (breeze off the lake and hot and muggy
inland), this same thing happens. There are warning signs mounted
before the curve to alert you to the possibility. It most frequently
happens after dark when the car is cooler since it hasn't been heated
up by the sun. I used to drive this road every night to work. I got
in the habit of turning on the defrosters and blower to maximum.
This would result in everything but the windshield fogging up. Once I
had gotten through the curve, I'd shut the defrosters down.
