the only problem with DemoWare and espically DemoWare of this Standard is that there WILL be KeyGens (makes a Seral Number for a product) / Cracks (breaks into the compiled program and modifies it) available in a short time after release.
Believe me you can get Serals - KeyGens - Cracks for almost ANY program available
the final result is that the hard workers at Anonymes loose out on payement and us - the legit end users miss out because the likelyhood of a sequel is minimized
being a software developer myself (abeit a new one) the possibality of having a program that you worked on for years cracked is enough to get violent
Jean have you considered the possibality of implementing some sort of Registration Check in your Demo Version
what i mean is when the user suposidely registers the product your program "checks" your server to confirm that that user has a Legit Key - this is done by maintaining a database at your end that is looked up to confirm registration
there are many "invisible" ways to do this - some include writing a Hook into IE / Netscape to check your server - invisible because programs like this would have access to the internet if a firewall is in place.
Using a "Upgrade" program to check your server and of course upgrade the application - not so invisible because all the user has to do is tell their firewall not to allow your upgrade program access to the net.
Or simply setting the "Home Page" in the said applications to a URL with the Registration infomation Encoded into it
its pretty sikening that you have to resort to some "funky" ways to check Registration data. but then again it would really be sikening if you guys get riped off
