AI and new weapon designs

I've got a few questions on this subject, as you might guess. (Grins)

So, here they are, in no particular order.

1. How will the computer name its new weapon designs? For example, will Russia refer to all its new combat aircraft as MiGs or Sukhois, will it get the numbering system correct (even for attack, odd for fighters), will China still have its J-series, etc?

2. How often will the AI design a new weapon system? Will it be able to improve on older ones for a smaller price? Will they always necessarily include the best technology (lesser designs might be cheaper or designed for export)?

3. Will it ever be possible for another country to catch up with the US in weapon design, honestly?

McCain 2000! I don't care if it's futile!
