Politics and Diplomacy

How richly are the countries modeled?

Each nation is modeled using more than 300 statistics, from Arable Land to Zones of Political Control.  It is rather deeply detailed.

What forms of government can a country have?

Are there elections in SuperPower?

In SuperPower you do not play as a country's leader, instead you represent the nation's entire power structure (the government, the military, and business elite).
For this reason, you need not worry about campaigning for elections.  However, you may still attempt to rig the elections in other countries as a covert action.  [Note:  though you do do not play any particular person within the game, if your country's head of state is assassinated, your game is over.]

What kinds of diplomatic treaties and actions are there?

    International Relationship Treaties:
    • Cease Fire
    • Peace
    • Alliance
    Military Diplomatic Actions:
    • Give or Sell Military Units
    • Grant Others the Right to Park Units on Your Soil (or vice versa)
    • Grant Others the Right to Build Bases on Your Soil (or vice versa)
    • Declaration of War

    Cultural, Financial, and Technological Agreements:
    • Facilitate Cultural Exchange with Another Country
    • Financial Support to a Foreign Government
    • Financial Support to a Foreign Opposition Movement
    • Agree to Buy, Sell, or Trade Technology
    • Agree to a Technological Research Partnership

But what if I wanted to attempt something, you know, a little more devious?

Each country has a secret service which can carries out various covert actions on your command.  Specify the target country, choose a patsey nation to take the blame, select the sector you wish to target (Civilian, Political, Economic, or Military), the importance of the action (from low to extreme).   With luck and proper funding your agents will be efficient enough to avoid botching the job and exposing your role in the matter.  There are seven possible covert actions:

What does it mean to "Rig Elections"

If you successfully rig the elections of another country you will be able to secretly manipulate that nation's inner workings.  When you conquer a nation by force it too becomes your puppet, but the international community may unite to condemn your actions.  However, by successfully rigging elections you can control every aspect of the targeted country.  As long as you are not discovered by foreign secret services, no one will cry foul.

What does it mean to "Pressure" another country's government in SuperPower?

The pressuring of a country is an attempt to destabilize its government through political means.  It could be through manipulating their press, starting rumors, everything that is legal, but still viewed as an aggression.  The point is to weaken the target's position with other nations, and with it's population."
