Today is one of those interesting dates that doesn’t come around very often: 09/09/09

Both Barb and Joe are out the rest of the week. Barb is on vacation and Joe is at another meeting. They will both be back in the office on Monday. April will hand out spending money checks to those who normally get them from Barb on Thursday. April will also be getting the payroll checks ready. One other thing April will be doing is being VERY happy to see Barb and Joe back on Monday. J

We had a special visitor on Tuesday. Senator Sheila Harsdorf came to DSI to congratulate us on the Partnership Award we were given for our t-shirt operation. She had a tour and met some of our employees. Kathy Spratford mentioned that she had never met a senator before so Sen. Harsdorf came right over and introduced herself. What an exciting day for Kathy!! Before she left, Sen. Harsdorf said that we have a really great place here. She is right!!!!! We can all be proud of the hard work and effort that goes into making DSI a great place to work.

Skyler suggested that people wear red, white, and blue on Thursday in honor of Patriot Day which is this Friday. Patriot Day is a day set aside to remember the nearly three thousand people who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Flags are supposed to be flown at half-staff and the President also asks Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 7:46 A.M. local time, the time of the first plane crash on that day.

It’s good to see Michael Bearhart back at work with us. Welcome back, Michael. And did we already welcome Carolyn and Kathy back? If we didn’t – welcome back. If we did – welcome back again.

It’s also good to see that everyone survived the Labor Day Weekend. Marti and Carol say that they are glad to be back at work. They witnessed lots of traffic backed up in Siren on Labor Day, all the way to the park and more coming from the north! They had to sit for 5 minutes waiting to turn into the grocery store parking lot. That maybe doesn’t sound like a long time, but when you are the one waiting it seems like forever.

A couple of quick reminders to those who close up the building at the end of the day.

  1. Please don’t shut off the power strip by the copier in the stamping area. The refrigerator is plugged in to that strip and when it gets turned off the freezer defrosts and makes a mess on the floor.
  2. Please make sure that windows are closed, especially in the break room. They have been left open a couple of times and that can let the rain in and the air conditioning or heat out.

A joke from Carol:

Giggles and Corky are talking one day and Giggles says, “Corky, I know what your favorite thing is.” “What?” asks Corky. “Air! Because it’s always around you and you never leave it.”
